How Bitcoin casino games are different from regular iGaming.

We’ve touched on this topic on other parts of this website, but being one of the most commonly asked questions in the crypto iGaming community, we felt it would be a good idea to devote an entire page to it. By the time you finish reading (or even skimming) this text, you should have a much better understanding of how Bitcoin game variety differs from the gaming menu at traditional online casinos, and why it matters.

Why Bitcoin Casino Games are Different

There are two very big differences between traditional online casinos and Bitcoin online casinos. Similarly, there are two notable differences between crypto currency and fiat currency. Those differences are inherently similar.

An online casino requires customers to divulge name, address, date of birth and other identifiable data to prove who their customers are. They are legally obligated to collect this information. Likewise, their payment systems must be authorized and secured by government regulated financial institutions, for the purpose of taxation, of course. And, last but not least, it is mandatory that their software – the engine that powers their games – be audited and certified fair by a third-party auditing firm.

A Bitcoin casino is entirely different. They are not required to collect names and addresses, or verify the identities of their players. They provide an anonymous service. Their payment systems are wholly secure, and transactions verifiably guaranteed through cryptographic blockchain technologies, again supporting the anonymity of their players. Just as the payments are cryptographically provable, so is the fairness of each game.

Bitcoin casinos employ special games with random outcomes that are “provably fair”. Instead of waiting months for the results of a certification audit that gives nothing more than an average RTP, players can actually view the result process of any game the moment its outcome is displayed. Just like every Bitcoin transaction is recorded on a blockchain, the outcome of every slot spin, blackjack hand, roulette wheel, etc., is transcribed. Players can view the result the very moment it occurs, or anytime thereafter.

How Noticeable are the Differences in Bitcoin Games?

That really depends on the casino you choose to play at. There are some Bitcoin casinos that still employ the minimal game variety, featuring nothing more than a few dice games. These casinos are noticeably different because they don’t offer the usual blackjack, roulette, video poker and slot machines of a standard casino. If you like that sort of thing – and a lot of people do – great. They do still exist. But most of today’s Bitcoin casinos have evolved to employ state-of-the-art software that is undetectably different to the naked eye.

Take, for example, Playamo Casino. Playamo is a Bitcoin + Fiat Cash online casino, meaning they offer two types of payments, with two distinct game menus. Overall, the site offers more than 3,500 games to choose from, but their availability is split. The largest section contains over 2,800 games and is available to players who deposit in a real, fiat currency (CAD, EUR, USD etc). The rest of the games, totaling 650+, are available to players who deposit in cryptocurrencies (BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC, etc.)

On the other side of the track, we have websites like 321CryptoCasino and its sister-site, Rock N Rolla Casino. These are exclusive Bitcoin casinos that only deal in cyrpto deposits and withdrawals. They have partnered with a plethora of specialized gaming software brands to present a superfluous variety of games to their customers – just under 1,000 to date.

All three of these casinos offer a game variety that mimics the same selections of any traditional online casino. There are more slot machines than any one person could ever care to play. All of the table game favorites, like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat, are on the menu. Some of these sites even offer live dealer table games. Thus, you’d never know the difference just by looking.

Why Does it Matter that the Games are Different?

This is a great question. To most players, it doesn’t matter. They don’t care, because they feel like they are getting the exact same experience anyway. In many cases, that’s true. Take blackjack, for example. This is a game where the exact rules determine the player’s odds. Therefore the game is exactly the same from standard software to crypto casino software. However, when it comes to games like slot machines, where the odds are determined by the game’s creator, it means everything.

Bitcoin casino games like these are able to present players with the lowest house edge in the business. Yes, these casinos want to make money as much as the next guy, but they have extremely low operating costs. Most online casinos have to pay financial institutions considerable amounts of money to process their payments. If they accept credit cards, they run the risk of chargebacks, too. Bitcoin casinos pay next to nothing to process transactions, with no fear that any payment will be rejected or charged back. The smart ones pass those savings on to their customers. Supplying games with higher RTPs is one way reputable Bitcoin casinos build such a large, loyal following.
