Is Let It Ride Worth Playing at Online Casinos?

This table game has achieved niche-market stardom over the years. However, most players have never tried it, often out of fear of the unknown. After all, one of golden rules of any good casino strategy is to only play what you know. But if you knew how to play Let it Ride, you might find yourself playing more often. Or not. You’ll never know until you learn.

Let it Ride Rules

Let it Ride can be easily compared to your basic video poker game, except that this one is played on a real table, with actual cards being dealt. The comparison comes from the fact that players either win or lose based on the strength of their hand – not whether that hand beats another player’s or dealer’s hand.

The object is to achieve a 5 card poker hand that ranks high enough to result in a payout (just like video poker). To win, you’ll need at least a Pair of 10s. You’ll get a 1:1 payout for any winning pair. The higher the hand rank, the higher the payout becomes, scaling up to 1,000:1 for a Royal Flush.

Players begin by placing a bet in the Ante section of the betting diagram. Next, click the Deal button, and the first three cards are dealt face up. Two additional cards are dealt face down. You’ll get to see these in a moment.

Based on these first three cards, you have to decide whether or not to place a Raise bet, equal to the original Ante. Otherwise, you can stick with the Ante and ‘let it ride’.

The fourth card is then turned over, and you have the same option. Place a Raise bet, or let it ride? Remember, you need a Pair of 10s or better to win. Also note that there is no Fold option in this game. You will always get to see the fifth card.

Is the Game Worth Playing?

As with any gambling amusement, entertainment value should be the top priority in choosing a game. You can play for free at Royal Vegas or any other online casinos where it’s offered to see whether you truly enjoy it or not.

Based on the theoretical return to player (RTP), however, Let it Ride rules don’t offer the best odds of winning. The RTP in this game, with standard rules and pay tables, is 3.51%. You could do a lot better with blackjack (99.4-99.7%), baccarat (1.06%, Banker bet) or even single-zero roulette (2.7%, Outside bets).

If you really enjoy this game, you may want to consider playing its closest cousin, video poker. Jacks or Better with Full Pay has an incredibly high RTP of 99.54%. But this can get monotonous and boring in a land-based casinos, whereas Let it Ride is a more social game. In the end, the decision is entirely up to you.
